Gautam Buddh Nagar cops nab two wanted criminals

NOIDA/GREATER NOIDA: In a major crackdown on wanted criminals, the Gautam Buddh Nagar police on Thursday said it nabbed two men from two different states.

Officials said that a wanted criminal carrying bounty of Rs 25,000 on his head was arrested by Bisrakh police station, following a gun battle.

Senior police officials on Thursday said that the accused has been identified as Ajeet, a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj district, who was arrested following a gun battle late Wednesday night.

“The two criminals, riding on a motorcycle, opened fire on police when they were intercepte­d near Ace City roundabout late Wednesday night. When police retaliated, Ajeet sustained bullet injuries in his leg while his accomplice managed to flee,” said Nishank Sharma, circle officer, Greater Noida.

Police said that the duo was planning to commit a robbery of Rs five crore at a jewellery showroom in Dwarka district of Delhi.

“During interrogat­ion, the accused told police that he and his associate were planning to rob a jeweller showroom in Delhi. Further, he told police that he had planned to commit a robbery in Farrukhaba­d district posing as cop,” said a senior police officer.

Meanwhile, in a second encounter, a close aide of another dreaded criminal was nabbed from his hideout in Chandigarh, Haryana, by a team from Sector-24 police station late Wednesday night.

Police said that the arrested criminal was identified as Ajay Grover (54), who worked as a business partner with gangster Amit Bhoora in his illegal liquor supply business.

Police said that Bhoora is a wanted criminal and is in jail. He was also the mastermind of an illegal liquor Accused Ajay Grover, who was arrested from Chandigarh manufactur­ing factory, which police busted in Ghaziabad’s Loni last month.
