NEW DELHI: A 20-year-old civil service aspirant belonging to Tamil Nadu committed suicide at her rented accommodation in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh area on Saturday, with police on Sunday saying they found a suicide note at the spot where she apologised to parents for taking the dire step.

Police said that the victim Srimathi’s family was informed, immediately after which they reached Delhi. After the postmortem examination was conducted, her body was handed over to them.

Cops said the 20-year-old was preparing for civil services examinations training at Vaji Rao coaching institute.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa said that around 7 pm on Saturday, Srimathi’s friend called them after she went to the victim’s house in Regar Pur area to meet her, but got no response.

Staff from Karol Bagh police station were alerted, who reached the spot and broken open the door and found her body hanging in her room.

A native of Erode district, Srimathi left behind a suicide note, in which she neither blamed anyone nor wrote any cause.

Investigators said that in the note, she apologised her parents and her brother.

Police said that they have asked questions from the victim’s family members to know about the circumstances that led to take the extreme step, but they were in a state of shock.

Sources said she wanted to become a government servant and shifted to Delhi right after finishing her graduation in Tamil Nadu.

When asked whether the victim had some personal problems that led her to take her own life, an investigator said that no reasons have been found yet and a probe is being undertaken from all angles.
