Eight-year-old girl’s body found inside bag
NEW DELHI: The body of a girl was found stuffed inside a trolley bag on the roadside near Yamuna Biodiversity Park on Sunday, a Delhi Police official said.
The investigating agency suspects that the victim is the same girl who had gone missing from north east Delhi on October 22.
Police said they were informed about the bag being found at 7.30 am, after which a team from Timarpur police station reached the spot.
“On opening the unclaimed bag, the body of a girl was found,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Nupur Prasad told reporters on Sunday.
She further said that the team spotted a strangulation mark on the neck of the victim, she said.
The girl’s body was taken to the Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital and a crime team later visited the spot.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police ( North East) Atul Thakur said that immediately after the body was recovered, they started investigation in a girl’s missing case, reported on October 22.
“The girl had reportedly gone missing from Welcome area. Investigation is going on from all angles,” he said.
In a similar case in February, Delhi Police had said they arrested a person who allegedly smothered a sevenyear-old boy to death in north west Delhi’s Nathupura area.
Law enforcement officials had claimed that the accused had kept the child’s body in his rented accommodation packed in a suitcase for more than a month.
In another case which happened in this month, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) had taken cognisance of a case and issued a notice to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) where a girl’s mutilated body was discovered in a farm in Mundka Industrial Area. The upper half of her body was missing and is yet to be found.
