NEW DELHI: A 20-year-old DU student who was harassing woman through a fake Facebook account was arrested from Shahdara district, police claimed on Tuesday. The investigating agency stated that the accused was sending her morphed vulgar photographs using her face picture & pornographic photographs along with vulgar messages. The complainant said that the alleged person was also threatening to rape her.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Meghna Yadav stated that the accused was identified as Deevakar Shakya. He is the student of B.COM final year. On August 16, a complaint was submitted by the complainant, a resident of Geeta Colony, Shahdara district at PS Geeta Colony, alleging that someone had created a fake Facebook account using her name and photograph. The user of the fake profile was sending her morphed vulgar photographs using her face picture pornographic photographs along with vulgar messages.

The arrest was made by the team of district cyber cell consist of Sub Inspector Devendra Chahar, woman constable Monika under the supervision of Inspector Sunjay Sharma. DCP Meghna Yadav claimed that during the course of investigation, it was revealed that the accused used to deactivate the account after sending the vulgar messages to the victim. Thus the victim was not able to block and report the fake Facebook account. “As the account kept deactivating, the victim and the local police were initially not able to grab the unique address of the fake profile,” said the DCP.

She further stated that the unique address of the profile was obtained by decrypting the message content sent by the user of the fake profile. With the help of that unique address the cyber cell succeeded in getting the fake profile permanently removed from the public domain. After that the technical team sought the account creation details and other Internet protocol addresses captured by Facebook. Facebook furnished all the required details against the fake account. As per the details, the cyber cell found another interesting challenge because the fake profile was created by using a fake temporary mail address which exists only for a period of 15 to 30 minutes.

“Apart from the temporary mail, the cyber cell found the version four of all the public internet protocol addresses, as now a days all the internet service providers are allotting one public IP address to many internet users at the same date and time,” she said. Hence in the details of IP addresses sought from the ISP'S, the cyber cell found numerous users against all the IP addresses. After dedicated efforts required for analyzing these users details, the District Cyber Crime Cell succeeded in identifying the accused user who was accessing that fake Facebook account. And without any further delay, the accused was arrested.
