Members of interstate ‘Cheeta Gang of Haryana’ held

NEW DELHI: The Interborde­r Gangs Investigat­ion Squad of the Crime Branch has arrested members of interstate ‘Cheeta Gang of Haryana' who were wanted in seven cases of carjacking, attempt to murder, robbery at Toll Tax and shootouts in various areas of Delhi and Haryana. The arrest was made from different places in the city.

The arrested criminals have been identified as Kamal (25), Kalu (22), Tarun (22), Karan Gogia (22), Shahid (27) and Irfan (35). Ajit Kumar Singla, Additional Commission­er of Police (Crime Branch) claimed that the arrest took place near DDA Park, Sector-3 Dwarka and Kapashera area. "Interrogat­ion of the arrested accused persons revealed that the gang is comprising of more than 25 budding criminals of Delhi and Haryana," said Singla.

He further claimed that Kalu was first arrested by Haryana Police in a murder case of December-2014, in which he along with his associate Kamal and five others killed one Rahul of their village, a member of rival Kala Asodhia gang. Thereafter in the years 2016-17, he actively participat­ed in the agitations for ‘Jataarksha­n' in all over Haryana and was again arrested and remained in jail for about 4-5 months.

Police further claimed that another accused Shahid is a gun runner of Mewat region of Haryana. He used to supply illegal weapons to various criminal gangs active in Delhi, UP West & Haryana and indulged in this trade for the last 5 years. He used to purchase country-made pistols of .315 bore from Irfan and further sold them to the criminal gangs from after keeping his margin.

"The gang leader Monu alias Cheeta Jasorkhedi­a is presently lodged in Bhondsi jail in several heinous offences including sensationa­l shootout outside Rohtak courts complex of March-2017 in which attack was made on rival gangster Ramesh Lohar and his associates," police said.
