NEW DELHI: Crime Branch of Delhi Police on Thursday solved the murder case of a teacher and her three family members who were killed in Wazirabad area and later their bodies were dumped in Ganga Canal in Uttar Pradesh. The accused was arrested from Outer Ring road.

City police claimed that the crime happened in 2016, the Uttar Pradesh Police had registered a case of “Honour Killing” against the family members of the teacher. The father, mother and brother of the deceased were believed to have killed her for the so-called honour of the family.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ajit Kumar Singla stated that they have arrested Abhishek Pal, a resident of Wazirabad area. He with his friend Bawla who died allegedly in a road accident, murdered one after another by strangulation using a clutch wire. The deceased were identified as Naina (teacher), her mother Sadhana, father Ved Prakash and brother Shubham.

"At that time body of Naina was recovered from Hapur, the other three dead bodies are yet to be found. The family members of the deceased could not be traced by UP Police despite best efforts. Hence, a case of “Honour Killing” was registered against the family members," said Additional CP AK Singla. The Additional CP further claimed that the case had come to limelight when the body of Naina was recovered by UP Police from a canal in Hapur in July-2016. Her Santro car was also found abandoned near the canal, which was registered in the name of Ved Prakash. The Crime Branch team under the supervision of DCP Bhisham Singh and led by ACP Aditya Gautam made the arrest in the case.

Police claimed Pal tried to hoodwink the police team, but he broke down. "The accused was well acquainted with the deceased. His friend Ritesh Katiyar was an employee of Ved Prakash at his garment shop," police said. Later on, Ved Prakash gave his shop to

Ritesh on rent. But, because of financial crises, the business of Ritesh was not going well and he took a huge loan from Prakash through the accused Abhishek Pal as a guarantor. Ritesh could not pay back the loan. Hence, a dispute had arisen between them. Ved Prakash was regularly pressurizing Abhishek Pal and Ritesh for his payments.

Police further claimed that the accused Abhishek Pal shared his problems with his friend Sonu, the nephew of Ved Prakash. Sonu had previous enmity with his uncle Ved Prakash and was searching for an opportunity to grab his business and property. He instigated the accused Pal to eliminate Ved Prakash and lured him for a share in his property and business. "The accused first killed, Ved Prakash. During this, the accused persons got suspicious that Shubham, son of Ved Prakash had seen them with his father. So, they killed Shubham. Later Sadhana had seen the accused persons while taking her son Shubham with them, so she was next to be killed and the last killing was of Naina," police said. All the bodies were dumped on the night of 16 and 17 July, 2016 in the canal.

Police sources claimed that they got information about the accused who were involved in four murders. The clue was developed and the case was finally solved. It is also being suspected that one of the accused had told someone about the killing and later crime branch came to know about it.
