CISF holds Himalaya expedition

NEW DELHI: In a bid to create awareness and sending message to tourists and residents of Himalayan region, the CISF held a “Himalayan Expedition”, with the theme of “Solid waste disposal for sustainabl­e developmen­t” and “Hum fit to India fit”. For the cause “Hum fit to India Fit”, the 9-day CISF expedition team conducted mountain biking (cycling), trekking, kayaking, rafting etc and motivated the local boys and girls to contribute in the developmen­t of the state and nation. The team also motivated them to include physical fitness and adventure sports in their daily life.

“This solid waste was leftover by the tourists in the area during the last several years and was affecting its highly sensitive ecosystem. Even though many efforts were made by the District Administra­tion and other institutio­ns to collect the solid waste left over by the tourists, the solid waste/garbage could not be properly disposed of,” an official said. The CISF managed to collect the waste and handed it to the Rudrapraya­g Municipal Corporatio­n for proper disposal, official added.

The team comprises 50 male personnel and 30 women personnel participat­ed in the team of CISF. led by Shri Raghubir Lal, Dy. Inspector General, CISF. During the expedition CISF women team demonstrat­ed martial art, weapon handling etc to the students of schools, colleges and universiti­es and educated the girl students regarding the role of CISF in women empowermen­t.
