Starvation death in Mandawali: Police receive final autopsy report

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Thursday claimed that they have received the final autopsy report on the starvation death of the three girls in Mandawali which claimed that they died due to malnutrition.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Pankaj Singh confirmed the news claiming that they have received the report recently which confirmed that the girls died due to malnutrition.

Recently, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) lashed out at the city police over the delay in the probe into the death of three minor girls in Mandawali allegedly due to starvation.

The notice copy of DCW claimed that this is in furtherance to the proceedings of the Delhi Commission for Women regarding the death of three minor girls in Mandawali allegedly due to starvation.

The Commission solicited a reply on the action taken in this matter by Police which informed the Commission that reports of the viscera samples deposited in FSL are still awaited. However in a reply, the Commission was informed by FSL that the viscera report is lying in the FSL since September 28 and despite intimation, has not been collected by the Police.

The women’s rights body further asked the Station House Officer of Mandawali police station to inform it about the status of the investigation and to intimate it by when shall the samples be collected. “In case samples have been collected, please provide the date of col- lecting them and reasons for the delay,” the DCW notice further read.

In July, the three sisters aged around 8, 4 and 2 years were admitted to hospital where doctors declared them brought dead. However, the hospital found the deaths suspicious and immediately informed the police. Delhi Police then sent the bodies for post-mortem. Cops said that the family belongs to West Bengal and their father is a rickshaw-puller. Their father identified as Mangal is still missing.
