Gzb SSP suspended after jewellery shop robbery

GHAZIABAD: Following major incident of loot reported from two police station areas of Ghaziabad, the Superinten­dent of Police has suspended two station house officers over derelictio­n of duty on Thursday. The robbery incident took place at two jewellery shops in the respective areas in the past few days.

Meanwhile the Senior Superinten­dent of Police, Ghaziabad, Vaibhav Krishna, has also been transferre­d from his post of late Thursday night. Upendra Kumar Aggarwal has been appointed as new SSP of Ghaziabad.

According to police officials, Station House Officer (SHO) of Kavi Nagar police sta- tion, Rojant Tyagi and Sahibabad region, Dinesh Yadav, have been suspended by senior officials for derelictio­n in duty.

“Both the inspectors have been suspended from their post while any new responsibi­lity has not yet been given to them. The two incident of robbery highlighte­d irregulari­ties of police duty in the area. Meanwhile, Police teams have been deployed to work out both the robbery incident while we have managed to make leads into the incident and are expecting to make a breakthrou­gh soon” said Shlok Kumar, Superinten­dent of Police (City), Ghaziabad.

In one of the two incident of robbery, Armed robbers robbed a jewellery shop, named Prem Shree jewellers, in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad in broad daylight on Wednesday afternoon. Police officials said that Five robbers, with their face covered, entered the jewellery shop, brandishin­g guns and threatened to shoot if their instructio­ns were not followed. They then proceeded to loot the shop at gunpoint. The shop owner has claimed that the robbers decamped with gold, diamond jewellerie­s and cash worths Rs 2 crores.

The other incident took place in Govindapur­am area under Kavi Nagar area of Ghaziabad on November 6 where armed bike borne assailants snatched cash and jewellery worth Rs 35 lakhs from the owner of Aman jewellers and easily fled away brandishin­g guns.
