23-yr-old NRI nabbed for HARASSING WOMAN IN flight

NEW DELHI: A resident of the Capital reported to Delhi Police that she was inappropriately touched and threatened by a man when she was in a flight coming to Delhi from London. Police officials on Friday said they arrested the accused, who is a non-resident Indian.

The arrest was made by personnel of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport police station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) Sanjay Bhatia confirmed the incident and said that after the woman reported the incident immediately after it took place on Thursday.

On Thursday night, after proper investigation, police arrested the 23-year-old accused, who name is not been revealed.

A police official told Millennium Post that the victim and the accused were seated close to each other in the flight.

“The woman told us that the accused, while getting up from his seat thrice, touched her inappropriately,” added the police officer.

The investigating agency also said that there was an argument between the victim and the accused, during which he threatened and hurled abuses at her.

“The incident took place when the flight was in air,” police said.

The woman first complained to the crew members and, soon after landing in Delhi, she reported the incident to the cops.

Talking about the background of the accused, a police officer said he was born and brought up in London and his father lives in Jalandhar, Punjab.

In a similar incident in July, police had arrested a man who molesting two of his employees in the domestic airport area.

Delhi Police data, accessed by Millennium Post, stated that in the current year, more than 500 accused were arrested on charges of rape, whereas over 700 persons were nabbed under the charges of molestation, and more than 120 persons were arrested in cases of eve-teasing.
