GHAZIABAD: A man has been arrested for allegedly strangled his 19-year-old girl friend to death in Khora area of Ghaziabad around a week ago. Police said that the accused murdered the girl after she agreed to marry some other boy chosen by her parents.

Manohar murdered his

live-in partner, Akansha, a native of Bulandshahr district, by strangling her inside the rented house where the couple

“Police teams were formed to work out the case who successfully managed to nab the culprit from Labour Chowk area on Monday morning. The accused confessed to have committed the crime and has been sent to jail after producing him before the court,” said Shlok Kumar, Superintendent of Police (city), Ghaziabad.

The officer further said that the accused murdered the girl as their relationship turned sour after the girl agreed to marry some other boy of her parent's choice.

“During sustained investigations into the case, it came to light that the couple were into a live-in relationship from the past eight months and their families were also aware of that. However, the relationship turned sour when the girl agreed to marry some other boy of her parent's choice which triggered a heated argument between the two, following which the man murdered the girl,” added Kumar.
