SDMC organises first of its kind ‘Child Parliament’ for school going students

NEW DELHI: In order to inculcate democratic values among school students, SDMC organises first “Child Parliament” on Thursday. The students gave spectacula­r performanc­e by playing the role of Prime Minister, Ministers, Mayor, Leader of the Opposition. The students presented session of Parliament and House Proceeding too.

In the ‘Child Parliament’, 25-25 students from four zones took part, students of the West and Najafgarh zones presented the session of Parliament whereas in the session of SDMC House students of south and central Zone participat­ed. Students played the role of Prime Minister, Ministers, Speaker, Leader of Opposition in the session of Parliament. In the SDMC House session, the students took the interest of all by playing the role of Mayor, Leader House, Leader of Opposition, Municipal Secretary, Commission­er. Awards were given to the best orators for their outstandin­g performanc­e.

SDMC Mayor Narendra Chawla said that for the first time such a unique program was organised in corporatio­n where students played the role of people’s representa­tives. With such programs, students will get knowledge about the politics, government, parliament, the working of the corporatio­n and this will inspire them and they will emerge as a future leader. Through such programmes the students will be more politicall­y aware and can become better citizens.

Chairperso­n of the Standing Committee Shikha Rai said that such programs of the Child Parliament should be organised at big level in all the schools of the four zones. Our corporatio­n school is not less than any of the private schools in Delhi and today’s event has proved that we will also have a hob for enrolment in our schools in the coming days.

Kamaljit Sehrawat, the leader of the House said that along with the students, we have to praise the teachers so that they have made such a good preparatio­n for the children’s parliament. Through this forum today, students have got a new experience which will increase their confidence. In addition to studies, students get new experience­s from such events.
