SDMC organises first of its kind ‘Child Parliament’ for school going students
NEW DELHI: In order to inculcate democratic values among school students, SDMC organises first “Child Parliament” on Thursday. The students gave spectacular performance by playing the role of Prime Minister, Ministers, Mayor, Leader of the Opposition. The students presented session of Parliament and House Proceeding too.
In the ‘Child Parliament’, 25-25 students from four zones took part, students of the West and Najafgarh zones presented the session of Parliament whereas in the session of SDMC House students of south and central Zone participated. Students played the role of Prime Minister, Ministers, Speaker, Leader of Opposition in the session of Parliament. In the SDMC House session, the students took the interest of all by playing the role of Mayor, Leader House, Leader of Opposition, Municipal Secretary, Commissioner. Awards were given to the best orators for their outstanding performance.
SDMC Mayor Narendra Chawla said that for the first time such a unique program was organised in corporation where students played the role of people’s representatives. With such programs, students will get knowledge about the politics, government, parliament, the working of the corporation and this will inspire them and they will emerge as a future leader. Through such programmes the students will be more politically aware and can become better citizens.
Chairperson of the Standing Committee Shikha Rai said that such programs of the Child Parliament should be organised at big level in all the schools of the four zones. Our corporation school is not less than any of the private schools in Delhi and today’s event has proved that we will also have a hob for enrolment in our schools in the coming days.
Kamaljit Sehrawat, the leader of the House said that along with the students, we have to praise the teachers so that they have made such a good preparation for the children’s parliament. Through this forum today, students have got a new experience which will increase their confidence. In addition to studies, students get new experiences from such events.
