BENTLEY RAMS INTO AUTO, KILLS TURKMENIST­AN WOMAN

The accused, arrested in the case, is the son of Rajender Singh, Wave Group Chairman

NEW DELHI: A speeding Bentley crashed into an autoricksh­aw in Delhi's upscale Chanakyapu­ri area on Monday evening, killing one Russian woman and injuring two others. The three women who are Turkmenist­an residents were travelling in an auto when the accident took place. The auto driver is also seriously injured. The 19-yearold accused arrested in the case is the son of Rajender Singh Chaddha, Chairman of Wave Group.

Madhur Verma, Deputy Commission­er of Police of New Delhi district said, "One injured woman has succumbed to injuries. A case has been registered under IPC 304. The accused has been arrested. He was not drunk."

The man behind the wheels, Anees Singh Chaddha, has been arrested. He is the son of Rajender Singh Chaddha, a resident of Chhatarpur farm, Mehrauli in New Delhi.

Rajender is the brother of the deceased liquor baron Ponty Chadha who was killed in a tragic shootout in November 2012.

Soon after the car rammed into an auto-rickshaw and hit a lamp post, 4 persons including the 3 foreign nationals were injured. They were immediatel­y rushed to the hospital. One of the three foreign nationals in the car succumbed to her injuries in the evening.

The blue colour Bentley Bentayga car smashed the auto. The impact was so powerful that the bonnet of the Bentley car was fully damaged and the auto in which the women were travelling turned into mangled remains. The injured have been identified as Alma Gul Atayeba (33), Gulshat Alijanova (51), Gulia Yyam (55). They all are Turkmenist­an residents.

Later in the evening, Gulshat Alijanova succumbed to the injuries and died in the hospital during treatment,” said Madhur Verma, DCP New Delhi.

The auto-rickshaw driver has been identified as Raghuveer Singh, who is also injured and is undergoing treatment.

He is a resident of Sangam Vihar in South Delhi. The two foreign nationals are also admitted in AIIMS trauma centre where their condition is said to be critical. The police is now collecting the CCTV around the area to know how the accident happened.

Police is also trying to find some eyewitness in the accident.

The Turkmenist­an embassy has been informed so that the news of the accident is passed on to the family of the deceased woman and the two who are injured. The accused Anees Singh Chaddha who is Ponty Chaddha's nephew would be produced in the court on Tuesday.
