Raahgiri organised in Noida

NOIDA: A massive crowd throng into the Raahgiri programme organised in sector 78 area of Noida on Sunday morning.

During the program, thousands of residents from nearby residentia­l societies participat­ed in various activities including Zumba, Aerobics and Yoga while the officials of Noida authority utilised the event to encourage citizens for voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Officials of Noida authority said that the Sunday's Raahgiri program was a great success.

“Resident of high rise societies of sector 76,77,78 and nearby areas have been demanding us to conduct a Raahgiri program in their vicinity. The authority had responded to their requests and we were amazed to see people participat­ing in the event in such a large number,” said a senior official of Noida authority.

The official claimed that over 10,000 people came to the event on Sunday morning.

Rajiv Tyagi, General Manager, Noida authority said that the event was a big success while people from all age group participat­ed in the event.

“The large gathering of people made the event successful and served its purpose. This time the Raahgiri Day focused on the importance of voting and bring the people on one stage so that we can sensitise them on Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participat­ion (SVEEP). A SVEEP booth was also placed in the event which educated and created awareness among people about voting. The Residents were taught about the process of voting and its impact while we had also received a voluntary support from people,” said Tyagi. Meanwhile people who joined the event, found it as an opportunit­y to make their weekend special by taking part in various activities including Zumba, Aerobics and Yoga.

Raahgiri”, a programme organised by Noida Authority which aims to help citizens reclaim their street. At Raahgiri nearly 5 km of street is blocked for vehicular movement and vehicles are prohibited from entering the blocked streets.

People are only allowed to walk and bring their roller skates, skate boards and prams with infants. The event is based on Ciclovia which is held in Bogota, Columbia.
