GURUGRAM: The Aam Aadmi Party has also begun preparations for the coming state assembly elections, the dates of which can be announced anytime by the Election Commission.

On Sunday, it held a meeting with its party workers and supporters in Sukhrali. One of the big announcements that came out of the meeting was the declaration of RS Rathee as its candidate from Gurugram Vidhan sabha seat.

The statement was made by Sushil Gupta, the AAP Harayana state-in-charge in the presence of Naveen Jaihind, AAP'S Haryana chief. However some party members said that they will still follow the due procedure to get the formal approval on the candidature of Rathee. RS Rathee who is also a counselor from Municipal Corporation of Gurugam (MCG) wards number 34 said that he will strive to make sure that he strengthens the party at the grassroots.

“I have been associated with politics and social welfare activities for more than 30 years. As I have worked on the ground, I know the problem of the people and the ways to solve them. Having been associated with the AAP ever since India against Corruption movement, I will tell people that this is the party that is a viable alternative to those parties that have only disappointed the citizens,” said Rathee.

Being a civil construction engineer, Rathee was employed with a private builder that is credited for building residential townships and commercial establishments in Gururgam. He then opened his own social welfare organization wherein he tried to solve the issues of residents in the township. He is also one of the activists towards saving of Aravalli forests. Gradually with the formation of MCG and its gradual elections, Rathee was able to get the goodwill of the people with his wife first becoming the MCG councilor in 2009 and him winning from the same ward in 2017.

Being a prominent AAP face for long, Rathee is credited for successfully organising the rallies for AAP in Gurugram.
