3 students held for threatenin­g to kidnap child in Ghaziabad

GHAZIABAD: Three young students have been arrested by Ghaziabad police for allegedly hatching a plan to kidnap an 11-year-old student of Amity Internatio­nal School and demanding a ransom of Rs 5 lakhs from the family in Indirapura­m area of Ghaziabad.

Cops said that the victim was cousin brother of one of the accused, who is also the mastermind of their plan.

According to police, the arrested accused have been identified as Shivam Parihar (20), student of BCA and a resident of Indirapura­m area, Avaneesh Garg, a student of class 12th and resident of Shahdra area, Shivansh Bhagat (20), student of B.tech and resident of Indirapura­m area.

Shlok Kumar, Superinten­dent of Police (city), Ghaziabad, said, “Police received a compliant on Monday morning from child's father that he is receiving whatsapp messages from an unknown number and they are threatenin­g to kidnap and kill his child if they don't give them five lakh rupees. Police registered a case into the matter and through electronic surveillan­ce system, police traced out the details of mobile sim used by the accused to sent message and call child's father. The mobile number was registered on the name of Shivam who was detained for questionin­g by police.”

“During interrogat­ions he told police about the involvemen­t of his two other friends into the crime as they wanted to earn quick money. Shivam allegedly hatched a plan to kidnap his cousin brother and roped in two of his other friends. The accused also told police that they were also planning to kidnap a classmate of Shivam named Gaurav if they succeeded in their first plan,” added Kumar.
