Cheats stole cheques from courier boys, encashed fraudulently
NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has busted a gang of cheats who used to steal the courier bags from the delivery boys and later on encashed the cheques found in the stolen bags by changing the name of bearer and depositing the same in the bank accounts opened fraudulently for this purpose only.
The accused Sunny, 25 years a resident of Bhopura, Ghaziabad, (2) Chanchal, 32 years from the same place and Mahesh, 58 years , Kishan Lal Yadav, 54 years both a residents of Moradabad, Jyoti, 24 years from Pithoragarh, Uttrakhand were arrested by Okhla Industial area police of South East Delhi.
The matter came to light when two delivery boys approached police and lodged a complaint. Both the complainants in their complaint stated that they are the courier delivery boys and their bags containing various parcels including few cheques were stolen from their vehicles while they went inside any office for delivery of parcel for the concerned consignee.

During sustained interrogation, it revealed that mastermind behind this fraud are Mohd. Munir and Kalicharan. Mohd.
Munir used to engage boys for stealing the courier bags and Kalicharan was given the duty to get the accounts opened in different names and in different locations so that the sto
len cheques can be encashed at different places. They use to erase the original name with the help of chemical and type the name of account holder of their team.
Kalicharan engaged Mahesh Singh to lure some other needy people to open bank accounts in their names on profit sharing bases based upon the money transferred in their accounts by fraudu
lent means.
“Efforts are on foot to trace Kalcharan and Mohd. Munir. Detailed interrogation is still under way and there is a possibility of their involvement in various cases all over Delhi and NCR,” said Chinmoy Biswal, DCP South East.
