4 companies of reserve police to be deputed for election duty in Ggn

GURURGAM: In wake of the impending assembly elections in Gurugram, as many as four companies of reserve police will be deputed for election duties in Gurugram.

The law enforcemen­t officials for the elections will be headed by Shashank Kumar, an IG rank official from Haryana police.

It is estimated that 1,700 police personnel and 1,155 home guards will be deployed to ensure security in 492 sensitive and hyper-sensitive booths in the city. There have been 802 booths that have been identified as sensitive.

These booths have been present in Sohna, Badshapur and even the Gurugram city. Under the 802 polling booths, 368 are 368 sensitive areas and 434 hypersensi­tive areas.

The maximum number of sensitive booths have been identified in Sohna which s then followed by Badshapur and even parts of Gurugram urban area.

According to officials, there is a possibilit­y of violence in the booths, that have been categorise­d as sensitive, which can be initiated by the rival groups.

In Sohna, there are 78 sensitive booths and 114 hypersensi­tive booths. In Pataudi, there are 44 sensitive booths and 45 hypersensi­tive booths while in Badhahpur there are 77 hypersensi­tive booths. There are also a substantia­l number of hypersensi­tive booths in Gurugram urban area.

The department has commission­ed an additional 1,406 police officials and 384 home guards within the city and at several police check-posts.

The Gurugram police have also begun cracking down on various criminal elements and gangsters that can disrupt the process of elections in the district.

On Friday, the Gurugram Police arrested two persons and seized 1610 boxes of liqour that was being transporte­d in trucks.

There were 1,352 boxes of IMFL and 258 boxes of beer that was seized.

In an official report, the Haryana police in the month of August has busted 26 gangs most of it had their bases in Gurugram.
