- ZAFAR ABBAS

NEW DELHI: Blackmailed by a boy for her alleged inappropriate videos a 20-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her residence in west Delhi's Tilak Nagar on Thursday.

The deceased girl was a student of Amity YWCA. She closed the door, locked herself and hanged herself to a ceiling fan. Immediately, the police was informed and she was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead by a team of doctors.

The family has alleged that the girl took the extreme step after she was allegedly stalked and blackmailed by a boy with some of her inappropriate videos in his mobile phone which he threatened to make public. This probably had broken the girl and she was compelled to take the extreme step.

“Case is registered against a boy whose identity can't be disclosed now. No police complaint of harassment is given to police station by a girl earlier, legal action is being taken,” said DCP West Deepak Purohit.

However, sensing the gravity of the matter the police was quick to register a case of abetment to suicide against the boy and initiate legal action.

According to police, the girl has not left any suicide note before committing suicide. However, the senior police officers said that they are investigating into the allegations of blackmailing with some video clips. Sources said that the victim and the boy knew each other for the past one and a half years.

However, later the boy started stalking the girl and threatened her with some of the objectionable videos of the victim. The girl was tensed for quite some time but the family member had no idea that she would end her life. However, she did not approach the police against the boy.
