EX-DMRC staff arrested for duping man on job pretext

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police (Metro unit) arrested a former Delhi Metro Rail Corporation staff for duping person on the pretext of a job.

Police said that the accused had provided fake offer letter to the complainant at Barakhamba metro station.

Police identified the accused as Deepu Kumar (39), a native of Aurangabad in Bihar. Police said that on September 21 a complaint was received at Pragati Maidan metro police station in which complainant Mithilesh Kumar alleged that one person Deepu Kumar had taken Rs 10,000 from him on the pretext of giving a job of the token operator in Delhi Metro.

But later he found that the alleged person is a fraud. He was not in a position to offer any job. The appointment letter given was fake.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) Vikram Porwal said that it was found that the accused was a previous employee of DMRC. He had worked in Delhi Metro as Token Operator in Chhatarpur metro station from January 2016 to December 2018.

Being an ex-employee of Delhi Metro he was very well aware of the process of appointment of Token Operator in Delhi Metro.

Using this knowledge he decided to earn money instantly by deceiving people as he was unemployed. He started taking money from the poor unemployed youth on the pretext of giving job in the metro. He used to contact people on phone numbers shared by them on the internet and then used to lure them in giving job in Delhi Metro.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Transport) Atul Katiyar said that after such cases reported in Transport range a first they conduct detailed investigation on the complaint. Later a case is registered and during investigation they nabs accused.
