Triple collision at Civil Lines kills 48-year-old woman

NEW DELHI: In a tragic accident a 48-year-old, woman died while the other occupants of the car suffered injuries after a Ford Figo hit their car in Civil lines on Wednesday afternoon.

The woman who suffered major injuries died on the spot and was declared brought dead at the hospital.

She has been identified as Rajeshwari Yadav, a resident of Krishna Kunj in Laxmi Nagar in east Delhi.

She was travelling with her 26-year-old daughter Deepti Yadav who also suffered injuries during the accident.

The 55-year-old driver of the victim's car Ishwar Singh also suffered a fracture in his leg and has been shifted to Trauma Centre Civil Lines.

“Around 4 pm, the accused Shrey Gupta, a resident of DRDO Complex Timarpur, along with his friends Daniel and two unknown were going in his Ford Figo car number from Civil Line side to IP college side. He took a sharp turn near Vidhan Sabha Metro station in a rash and negligent way and forcefully hit one Honda Amaze number and Swift Dzire car. A woman occupant of Honda Amaze expired and the driver of the car suffered a fracture in the leg,” DCP North Monika Bhardwaj said.

Police said that the Ford Figo Car was the vehicle of the accused which had four occupants, three of them absconded after the accident.

The police team has apprehended the driver of Ford Figo Shrey Gupta, he is having minor injuries on both his toes. Shreya was discharged after first aid from the hospital. The accused car also hit a Swift Dzire, however, the driver escaped without any injuries.

The 22-year-old driver Sonu, is from Unnao district. The Delhi police has apprehended the accused Shrey Gupta.

Police said that the accused boy is a school dropout and has studied up to class XI.
