65-year-old man killed in Swaroop Nagar EOW arrests Delhi Police constable for fraud

NEW DELHI: A 65-year-old man was brutally murdered by a blunt object in Swaroop Nagar area of Delhi on Tuesday night. The reason for the murder is still unknown.

The assailants have also smashed the face of the victim beyond recognitio­n. The victim was identified as Charan Singh. He was working as a plumber in the area.

Investigat­ion revealed that he was residing with some men and it appears that he was murdered after some argument with a blunt object like an iron rod.

The police received a call on Tuesday night and soon a team was dispatched to the spot. Blood stains were found all over the room where the body was found. It appears that the old man was murdered after he got into an altercatio­n with the men he was drinking alcohol with.

The police is trying to ascertain the cause of murder. The locals in the area are also being questioned to some leads in the murder.

Cops are also scanning the CCTV images around the area to get some clue. The body has been sent for post mortem and investigat­ion is underway. NEW DELHI: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police has arrested a constable posted in the accounts department of Outer district in connection with alleged financial irregulari­ties amounting to Rs 19.44 lakh.

The investigat­ing agency said that the accused transferre­d the money in his wife's account.

Additional Commission­er of Police (EOW) OP Mishra told Millennium Post that after receiving a complaint related to misappropr­iation of money from the accountant of DCP office, Outer Delhi Police, they registered a case and arrested the accused.

accounts of his wife by sending ECS instructio­ns to a private bank in this regard.

Additional CP also denied a report which claimed that EOW has raided the accounts section of the DCP office in Outer Delhi. The investigat­ion is also going on whether other people were involved in money siphoning.

"There are several angles which are being probed. It also includes the time from which the accused started the crime," an officer said. Anil Kumar was arrested from the account Branch Pitampura police lines based on evidence and interrogat­ion.

A case under sections 420 (Cheating and dishonestl­y inducing delivery of property), 409 (Criminal breach of trust by a public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent) and 120 (Concealing design to commit offence punishable with imprisonme­nt) at EOW police station.
