CM launches public consultation exercise
NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday reached out to the people of Delhi and requested them to tackle the problem of air pollution by working together. Kejriwal in a personal message to the people launched the campaign #Fightingpollutiontogether and said, “We have all seen astonishing views of clear skies in Delhi in the past few days and we know that it is possible to retain these clear skies, like any other global city, if the government and citizens jointly find solutions to Delhi’s pollution woes.”
The decision was taken considering Diwali and stubble burning season that are just around the corner. Kejriwal launched the public consultation exercise on a technology platform seeking constructive ideas from citizens to tackle the issue. Mentioning its ‘Winter Action Plan’, the chief minister also said that he would like to know from the people how the government and the citizens can collaborate to keep Delhi’s air clean. “The 25% reduction in pollution we have achieved in Delhi has to be built upon to reduce it further,” he added.
The state government applauded itself for bringing Delhi’s air pollution down after reports released by System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research suggested that the air quality in the national capital slipped into “moderate” category on Thursday.
In the message Kerjriwal said, “I am doing everything in my capacity to ensure that Delhi doesn’t turn into a toxic gas chamber again. In addition to these steps, if you have an idea to beat pollution then start a petition to me right away. I believe great things are in our future when citizens and government build a roadmap together.”
