Women pickpocket­s target rtd Army captain inside ATM Criminals involved in 30 cases arrested

NEW DELHI: Two women stole money from the pocket of a 76-year-old retired Army captain in South Delhi's Hauz Khas area on Thursday. According to the victim, no security guard was deployed at the ATM. The accused women fled with Rs 40,000.

Police have registered a case in this regard and investigat­ion is going on. According to police, the incident took place between 1:45 pm to 2 pm on October 3 at a private bank ATM in Hauz Khas's Kaushalaya Park area. The complainan­t in the case NK Mahajan, who described himself as a "100 percent disabled veteran" of Indo-pak War of 1971, told

that he had withdrawn Rs 50,000 from the bank and kept Rs 40,000 in one of his trouser pockets.

"I was followed by two ladies when I entered the ATM, I asked them to wait and stay out, but they didn't listen and entered the ATM there was no guard available to help me and to stop them," said NK Mahajan. Later one of the ladies reached near him and asked him in Hindi that is there is any problem and quietly one of them stole Rs 40,000 from the pocket of his trouser and fled the spot.

A 55 seconds CCTV footage of the alleged incident accessed by shows that the elderly man entered inside the ATM. Following him, two women also came inside. One of them was carrying a handbag. They were continuous­ly monitoring the old man's ATM transactio­n.

The CCTV further shows that both the suspects were talking to each other. One of them, through hand gesture, informed her associate to go near the target. After that the women started talking to the elderly man. Meanwhile, the other suspect, who was standing behind the complainan­t, took out something from his pocket and fled. Later, when the 76-year-old man came out of the ATM, he found his money got stolen.

"In few seconds, I came to know that they took out my money but both of them ran away," added NK Mahajan.

Deputy Commission­er of Police (South) Atul Thakur said that they have registered a case and investigat­ion is in progress. "We have identified both the suspects and they will be arrested soon," DCP South said. NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has arrested two notorious armed auto lifters-cum-snatchers and BC'S of Sagar Pur police station identified as Abhishek, age 24 years and Rohan, aged 22 years.

With their arrest one loaded country-made pistol along with three extra live cartridges, three stolen motorcycle­s and two snatched mobile phones were also recovered from their possession.

Acting on the tip of the team was deployed near the expected place of arrival that is Mangla Puri Bus Stand, Palam Village, New Delhi. After some time as per secret informatio­n two suspects were spotted riding on a stolen motorcycle and were asked to stop for checking, but instead of following the directions of police team, they tried to sped away from the spot.

The team immediatel­y swung into action and nabbed the accused persons Abhishek and Rohan both residents of Sagar Pur. During the cursory frisking of accused Abhishek one loaded country-made pistol and one extra live cartridge and from the possession of accused Rohan alias Golu two live cartridges were recovered. The duo were involved in more than 30 cases of snatching robbery and car theft. “During sustained interrogat­ion both the accused persons disclosed that they used to target parking lots for vehicle thefts and commit a crime, equipped with arms to evade arrest,” said DCP South West Deevender Arya.
