Cleanlines­s still a major issue at Gurugram railway station

GURUGRAM: In a swachh survey by the urban developmen­t ministry, Gurugram was given the rank of third among the 33 stations in NCR and 94 overall among the list of 700 stations that were surveyed.

The following informatio­n again has revealed how Gurugram railway station is still not being up to the mark towards cleanlines­s and sanitation levels. It is important to note that even though Gurugram only consists of three platforms it sees huge traffic on account of most of the passengers using

local trains for going to Delhi. The trains going to Delhi cantonment is one of the most popular routes among the passengers.

According to the residents, one of the main reasons for Gururgam railway station being extremely dirty iis because of the administra­tion's inability to deal with a large number of hawkers that are present around the station.

Moreover, there are also complaints of the administra­tion not deploying enough sweepers towards cleanlines­s.

Now to deal with the chal

lenges the administra­tion is taking certain concrete steps.o reduce the use of single plastic in Gurugram, the Municipal Corporatio­n of Gurugram (MCG) has started an initiative wherein for discarding plastic bottles and stuffs made of plastic, incentives will be given.

These incentives include paytm coupons to even grain of rice. As of now, four machines have been installed in the MCG office where these facilities are going to be provided.

Ten children who are working as ragpickers have also availed the facility of discarding the plastic and getting the grain of rice in return.
