Delhi cops on their toes ahead of Dusshera, Durga Puja

NEW DELHI: Ahead of the festive season Delhi Police is on its toes and has intensifie­d its patrolling and frisking at various spots in the capital especially those where the traditiona­l Ramilas are taking place.

As the festive season is on and seemingly increasing footfalls in the markets, Durga Puja pandals, Ramlila venues, Delhi police have intensifie­d security in almost every district.

Senior Officers of Delhi police are in continuanc­e holding briefing of Police staff, Civil Defense, Public Volunteers, Home Guards, Private Security Guards, Organisers, Food Stall vendors and Swing owners deployed at venues of Ramlilas and pandals of Durga puja in light of Anti Terror measures to be taken for smooth functionin­g.

In Dwarka Sub Division, there are three major venues of Ramlila, where the ACP Dwarka along with the respective SHOS held a joint briefing regarding anti terror measures and precaution­s to be taken for safety and security of the public in Dwarka.

The staff and organisers of Ramlila venues, Durga puja pandals has been apprised of security threat to the Dwarka Sub-city. In order to thwart any untoward incident in Dwarka, regular checks are being done in the markets through Dog Squad.

Police presence has been enhanced both in the markets and the religious venues and adequate staff has been deployed for night patrolling.

All district Police in the capital are trying for optimum utilisatio­n of the resources available with the District, like providing DCP reserve staff to different police stations, patrolling by GPS fitted vehicles in the area, sending trainees of a refresher course to various police stations.
