The solution is being revived by the civic body after its pact with Eco Green company has not resulted in the desired results as of now. To review the problem of Bandhwari, Haryana Chief Secretary Keshani Anand Arora met with the officials to discuss the solution.

It is believed that in the seven years from the time the waste is being dumped at the 30-acre landfill site over 25 lakh tonnes of waste from Gurugram and Faridabad has been accrued at the site. Despite several assurances of recycling of the waste by the authorities, the process has been marred by several delays. It is important to note that over 1,500 tonnes of garbage from Gurugram and Faridabad are being dumped at the site daily.

Commissioned in 2008, Bandhwari landfill was created with an objective of segregation and recycling of waste generated from Gurugram and Faridabad.

Set up with an investment of Rs 300 crore, the objective was to operationalise a power plant and plastic recycling at the site. However, the plans did not materialize and 2013 citing heavy losses, the contractor Irfan Furniturewalla Hanjer abandoned the project of recycling the waste of the area.

After four years of laying defunct, the MCG finally signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Eco green company to start the plant.

While the civic body officials claim that the work of restarting the plans is going on in full swing, more than 90 trucks from Gurugram and Faridabad still dump the garbage.

The delay in starting the project has resulted in many green activists blaming the civic body officials and their handlers in Chandigarh of being ineptitude and corrupt.
