BJP deflecting from main issue to hide failures: Gurugram Congress candidate

- OUR CORRESPONDENT

GURUGRAM: Amid the controversy of Sukhbir Kataria's statement on Bharat Mata being widely raised by the BJP, the Congress candidate has accused the saffron party of deflecting from the main issues. Not only is Kataria being attacked by his statement that he made but his opponents are also trying to rake his past record where he was embroiled in various cases of corruption.

Rubbishing all the allegations that are leveled against him, Kataraia highlighted that all these were the tactics used by the party to divert the issue of voters from the main issues and instead malign the image of the candidates who have high chances of winning these elections.

“The BJP knows that in these five years they have not served the city and its residents. Forget about making Gurugram a world-class city, today the residents of Gurugram have to also face hardships in getting even the most basic services. The government has failed in proving quality education, healthcare, power, connectivity, and cleanliness. To divert the issue from these main issues they are now trying to malign my image,” said Kataria. Congress had appointed Sukhbir Kataria as the nominee from Gurugram's seat. Kataria had won this seat in 2009 as an independent.

He later joined the Hooda cabinet as the sports minister and since then is believed to be close to the former Chief Minister. In a major relief to the former MLA in May this year, a Gurugram court set aside criminal charges against him. Kataria was accused of indulging in bogus voting and creating fake voter identity cards to allegedly influence the elections in 2009.

Attacking on BJP, Kataria said, “The BJP has not performed work and now to shrug off their responsibilities, they are denying tickets to the members.”
