Assistant bank manager held for duping farmer

GHAZIABAD: An assistant bank manager with union bank in Dasna area has been arrested by Ghaziabad police for allegedly duping a farmer of over one crore rupees. Cops said that the manger had helped four persons in the fraud.

According to police, the arrested accused has been identified as Badree Narayan Paadi, a native of Odisha. Police have earlier arrested two more accused identified as Sunil Tiwari and Suraj Mandal alias Shammi, both natives to Delhi, in connection with the case.

Senior police officials said that Taiyub, a resident of Ghaziabad and works as a farmer in Masuri area was allegedly duped of Rs 1.13 crore after the accused persons produced fake documents and fetching other bank details.

Naresh Kumar Singh, Station House Officer of Masuri police station said that the victim has the bank account in Dasna branch of Union Bank of India. “Four persons allegedly plotted the conspiracy to commit crime after they came to know that the farmer has Over Rs 1.20 crores in his bank account. They created an email ID in the name of the victim and also activated the victim's old mobile SIM which he had stopped using but was registered with his account” said Singh.

“The accused persons then produced fake documents to activate the internet banking of the victim's account. These documents were easily verified by the bank official as he was also involved into the crime. The then withdrew the amount from his account and distribute­d among themselves” added Singh.

Meanwhile, police are yet to arrest Alam and Ankur Kumar in connection with the case. Police have also recovered Rs eight lakh from the possession of accused persons.
