Apex Committee meet: Calls related to noise pollution to be monitored at DCP level
NEW DELHI: "There should be proper monitoring of calls related to noise pollution at DCP level," was one such decision taken during the meeting of Delhi Police's Apex Committee on NGT matters.
The members in the meeting were also told to conduct awareness programmes, for curbing noise pollution, in all districts with coordination of various volunteers. Police sources told Millennium Post that as many as 15 senior officers including Special Commissioners of Police discussed the matter following which several decisions were taken.
"Proper monitoring of calls received relating to noise pollution needs to be done at DCP level. Action taken report should be forwarded to the SCRB on the prescribed format for the perusal of Apex and Joint Committee," one of the decisions taken in the meeting.
Sources said that all calls related to noise pollution received in PCR should be flashed on the DM Net also.
"Calls pending on noise pollution website should be disposed off. All pending references should be cleared expeditiously," officials said in the meeting.
The time for disposal of the complaint as mentioned on the website needs to be modified.
"Response time for reporting back the action and uploading on the website may be increased from 30 minutes to 2 hours and from 1 hour to 6 hours for SHOS and ACSP respectively," an official said in the meeting.
Other decisions taken in the meeting were related to a training-cum-orientation programme, which should be organised for district DCSP and ACSP (operations) so that they may sensitise field officers in respective districts.
The process of procurement of noise meters needs to be expedited.
"Hot spot mapping of pollution needs to be done at the district level. After mapping, a report in this regard may be sent to NGT secretariat," the official said in the meeting.
Further, the focus was also given on the awareness programme which should be conducted in all the districts in coordination with RWAS, volunteers, NGOS and educational institutions.
The report should also be sent to the NGT secretariat.
