Website, mobile app launched to facilitate railway passengers in registerin­g complaints

NEW DELHI: Union minister Nityanand Rai on Thursday launched a website and a mobile applicatio­n to facilitate the railway police in addressing complaints of passengers from across India and crime detection by integratin­g the criminal database online at NDMC convention centre.

The minister of the state of home affairs launched the website www.railways.delhipolic­e.gov.in and the mobile app Sahyatri in presence of Delhi Police Commission­er Amulya Patnaik and other officials.

Deputy Commission­er of Police (Railway) Dinesh Gupta said that the criminal database (compendium) of criminals involved, operating in railway jurisdicti­ons in all over India under the crime heads with their involvemen­ts, latest photograph­s and associates are to be uploaded for better prevention and detection of crime.

Further, the details of the unidentifi­ed dead body (UIDB), missing persons, wanted criminals, absconding, proclaimed offender, other important matters, law & order related issues would also be shared amongst the GRPS of all states.

Special Commission­er of Police (transport) Praveer Ranjan and Joint Commission­er of Police (transport) Atul Katiyar had been continuous­ly monitoring the developmen­t of the website. Further, the GRP mobile app – Sahyatri – Delhi Railway Police has also been developed.

The app would be functional on Android & IOS mobile phones. Its hybrid applicatio­n has been specially designed for the railway's passengers to find out the jurisdicti­on of the concerned police station and the details of GRP Officials by geo-tagging with the Google Maps. This website has been designed to facilitate the GRP and railway passengers. It will be a time saver and useful in providing all the above informatio­n at a glance.

This website would surely help GRP and will boost up confidence and trust among the general public.

Further, apart from sharing informatio­n amongst GRP, the railway passengers will certainly be benefitted by this website as various kind of citizen services have also been provided.
