NEW DELHI: In a major bid to clear and remove construction and demolition waste (C&D) in the city, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Monday inspected 727 sites and issued 669 challans to violators, amounting to a whopping Rs 7.7 lakh, the municipality said in statement, with officials saying that environmental prosecution could be in store for entities that dump such waste illegally. SDMC officials here said that the municipality is currently looking to write to the Delhi Pollution Control Committee to prosecute violators under the Environment Protection Act.
The SDMC said that challans were issued on Monday across all four of its zones for burning waste, rubber, plastic and unauthorised construction activities, including illegal dumping of C&D waste.
In Central Zone around 110.5 cubic ton C&D Waste removed with the help of 23 trucks. The major roads cleared in Central Zone are Defence colony service road, Mathura road, Ravi Das Marg, Ansari road, Road No.13 Near Sarita Vihar foot over bridge and others. In South Zone around 250.5 cubic ton is removed with the help of 46 tempos and 12 trollies. The major roads cleared are Shri Harsukh Marg, Shahpur Jat Phirni Marg, Church Road, Ayappa Temple Marg, SSN Marg, Outer Ring Road, Press Enclave Road and others.
In the Najafgarh zone around 95.5 cubic ton C&D waste removed with the help of 13 trucks. The major roads cleared are Khaira, Ghummanhera Road, Palam Health Center Road, Main Sagarpur Road, Dabri Mod Road, New Anaj Mandi Road and others. In West Zone around 140 cubic ton C&D Waste removed with the help of 12 trucks. The major roads cleared are Rajulal Marg, Shamshan Ghar Road Subhash Nagar, Pashchimpuri Road and others.
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police on Monday organized Commemoration Day Parade in remembrance of Police personnel who laid down their
lives in serving their respective forces.
The Parade was held at New Police Lines Ground in Kingsway Camp. Rajesh Malik, Special Commissioner of Police (GA) read out the names of 292 martyrs of Delhi Police and State and Central Police Organization-wise number of personnel who sacrificed their
lives in the line of duty, during the period. In all, 292 police personnel including 10 of Delhi Police were killed while serving in their respective forces.
According to police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Surender (Traffic), ASI Omvir Singh (Traffic) , ASI Jitender Singh (Traffic),head constable (HC) Uday Singh (IGI Airport) HC Guljhari Lal (Dwarka Dist.), HC Rajpal Singh Kasana (Special Cell), HC Mahvir (Rohini District), constable (Ct) Kuldeep Singh (3rd Battalion), Ct Pradeep Yadav (Dwarka District) and Ct Sunny (West District) laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Delhi Police organized ‘Ek Shaam Shahadat Ko Salaam’, a musical evening, on Monday at Siri Fort Auditorium. Family members of the 10 police personnel, who sacrificed their lives last year were also present. Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik felicitated them and assured full support from the police family. GHAZIABAD: Amid warning issued by intelligence agencies of Fidayeen attack in Uttar Pradesh, there is a high alert in Ghaziabad district with Barricading outside all the 17 police stations and cops leaving no page unturned to maintain security in the district.
As a precautionary measure, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ghaizbad has given directions to all the SHOS and Circle Officers to pursue checking operations at all the suspected hotspots and make sure that there is no entry of four wheeler and two wheelers inside the police station premises.
As a result, there is barricade outside all the police stations in the district and people are being thoroughly checked before entering the premises.
Also cops have been deployed with modern weapons including AK-47 and
INSAS rifles. Apart from this, the warehouses located at various police stations have been checked while the defunct weapons are being serviced in order to make sure that they are working properly.
This comes after the central intelligence agencies received input of Fidayeen attack in Delhi-ncr region. Inputs were also received that five suspicious terrorist have also sneaked into Delhi to commit a major terrorist attack.
“Police have stepped up security at all the entry/exit points of the district. We have got information that terrorist may attack any of the police station of the district. All the police station areas have been given direction to keep a watch on any suspicious person,” said Dr. Manish Kumar Mishra, Superintendent of Police (city), Ghaziabad adding that, for the next few days, reporters working with recognised news agencies will only be allowed to attend press conference held by police.
