Minister holds meeting to discuss preparation for disability camps
NEW DELHI: Delhi Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam convened a meeting with the State Commissioner of Disabilities, Representatives from Lok Nayak Hospital, Delhi Transport Corporation, Revenue and officers from social welfare department to discuss the preparation for holding disability camps by the department of social welfare in collaboration with Lok Nayak Hospital.
The Minister reviewed in detail the preparedness for issuing disability certificates for specific disabilities.
He directed officials to complete the procedure for camp day and share it with the hospital authorities and the public, to make the process hassle free for the beneficiaries. He also directed officials to make proper arrangements to create awareness about the camp through advertisements issued in newspapers and give details about the disabilities for which certificate will be issued on the camp day itself and the disabilities for which registration will be done on the camp day. The date for further testing or assessment by specialists will be given the same day.
Facilities are given under the camp include, Disability Certificates, DTC bus pass, SDM disability card issued by revenue department along with financial and development help for persons with disabilities. There will also be vocational training and rehabilitation, Empowerment education and employment counselling for person with disabilities. The camp will also, provide assistance in admission of children with disability in government school and artificial limbs or appliances through NGO’S Kivani Club of New Delhi.
