Ghaziabad traffic police prepare report on decongesting traffic

- RAHUL SINGH

GHAZIABAD: In a bid to curb menace of traffic at busy junctions of Ghaziabad, the traffic police have identified eight spots which are much prone to traffic jam in peak hours. Traffic cops said that they have prepared a report to optimise these traffic bottlenecks after conducting surveys at all the intersections of inner as well as outer parts of the district.

As per the report, the main traffic spots identified by police are UP Gate, Model Town sector-62 intersection, ABES engineering college T-point, Ghantaghar crossing, Hapur Tiraha, New bus stand metro,

Mohan Nagar and NH-58.

“There remains a heavy flow of traffic at these eight spots and creates traffic bottlenecks in peak hours which is mainly because of narrow passage or encroachment at few of these spots while under-construction flyover and railway bridge at others. We have written letter to Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and District administration for optimisation of traffic at these spots,” said Pramhans Tiwari, Traffic Inspector of Ghaziabad.

The TI said that they have also suggested the district administration and GDA to ask the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to relocate the MCD toll tax situated at Ghazipur.

“The soot where MCD toll is located at UP gate create long queues of vehicles during morning hours because of commuters coming from Mohan Nagar, elevated road and Khora area merge at a narrow passage. We have requested the administration and GDA to ask Delhi MCD to shift the MCD toll booth to around few hundred meters. Also, we have suggested to widen the toll lane as the traffic coming from eight lane gets merge to two lanes. By implementing any of these measures, we can maintain smooth flow of traffic and avoid stopping vehicles coming from alternate lanes” Tiwari added.
