Starting young and right

-

In the times of smartphones and technological invasions of all possible kinds, children gain the least from the new age advancement and, in fact, fall victim to its dangers. Myopia in toddlers and very young children is the result of prolonged exposure to the glare of device; and parents often find themselves helpless from lack of alternatives to set ways of modern lifestyle. the good old way of deriving pleasure and

lessons from reading a book serves many purposes in the fast and tiring times today. Helping inculcate this habit among young children will have several benefits ranging from better health to learning well and developing an all rounded personality overall. The libraries in school serve a very crucial purpose in this regard as they equip students with lifelong

learning skills and develop their imagination, enabling them to ultimately live as responsible citizens. School libraries are the silent places for learning and thinking and play a key role in supporting and developing literacy which can radiate from them to others in ways that cannot be regulated and put in a system. The importance of reading cannot be emphasised enough in young children but it remains a challenge for parents to make that a priority and make daily reading a habit. Numerous studies have established that toddlers and preschoolers who are read to every day have a larger vocabulary than those who aren’t read to at all. With this initiative of parents, the efforts of school contribute significantly in imbibing this habit. Reading helps children understand different topics about the world and every day life. Delhi government has done a desirable thing and has set up 4,178 classroom libraries in primary sections of government schools and the annual target is of 6,300. The target of the Aap-led government is to set up these classroom libraries and to reach out to more students. School libraries have a positive impact on students in terms of learning outcomes. The library services could also we’ll be aligned with the school’s vision and learning goals and in turn, enhance students’ performance and achievements. Will better learned children, there will be better citizens in the future. Providing the facility of reading and encouraging the habit among children is definitely an investment that must be made.
