371 cases registered and 210 held FOR BURSTING, SELLING FIRECRACKE­RS

NEW DELHI: Raids on banned firecracke­rs, patrolling on vulnerable areas, strategic deployment and public awareness were the few factors which helped Delhi Police to make sure that there was no untoward incident takes place during the festival season.

Meanwhile, the city police received 940 calls related to firecracke­rs on Diwali. Police Commission­er Amulya Patnaik also motivated the police staff who were deployed on night shift at major intersecti­ons of the national Capital on Diwali.

According to Delhi Police data, on the intervenin­g night of October 27 and 28, as many as 371 cases were registered and 210 people were arrested for selling banned firecracke­rs or found bursting illegal firecracke­rs. Till date, as many as 433 cases were registered and 261 people were nabbed.

During intervenin­g night of October 27 and 28, nearly 3764.75 kg of firecracke­rs were seized. "56 cases were registered and 44 people were nabbed under Explosive act whereas 315 cases were registered and 166 people were arrested under section 188 of IPC," Delhi Police data revealed.

Deputy Commission­er of Police (central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa told

that full proof arrangemen­ts were made to ensure no untoward incident took place."we have made several teams who were patrolling the city. Calls at our helpline number were monitored regularly," said DCP Central.

Meanwhile, on October 26, different types of banned highdeciba­l crackers weighing 1,320 kg were recovered from Jyoti Nagar area. Police took action against one Rakesh who was found with the possession of the banned firecracke­rs. MORALE BOOST

CP (Delhi) Amulya Patnaik interacted with field functionar­ies deployed on duty in connection with Diwali arrangemen­ts in the intervenin­g night of October 27 and 28.

The CP, Delhi greeted the staff and distribute­d sweets to boost up their morale, focusing on police personnel performing difficult duties at Police Pickets, PCR vans and Traffic intersecti­ons. The areas visited were Connaught Place, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, police headquarte­rs, Chilla picket on Noida border and central police control room in Haiderpur.
