Caretaker of drug rehabilita­tion center found murdered in Gzb

GHAZIABAD: A caretaker of a drug rehabilita­tion center in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad was found murdered inside his room at the rehab Center on Monday morning.

Cops have rounded up their investigat­ion on eight inmates living in the rehab as they have fled the Center after committing the crime.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Sabir Khan (48), a native of Seelampur area in Delhi.

“The incident occurred around 2 am on Monday at Aabhar drug de-addiction Center in Lajpat Nagar C-block area of Sahibabad when the victim was sleeping inside his room,” said police officials.

Police have recovered the CCTV footage in which eight persons were seen entering Khan's room around 1:30 am and they tied his hands and legs with rope. He was beaten to death by the accused persons and they fled away from the back door of his room.

A senior police officer said that around 33 inmates were present at the Center at the time of incident.

“All the eight accused persons who were involved in the crime were admitted to the rehab Center around three months before. They have been identified as Shahrukh, Deepak, Khem Chand, Vishal, Trun Tyagi, Jogendra, Chand and Sudhir, all aged between 30 and 40 years and hail from parts of Ghaziabad, Delhi and Haryana,” the officer informed.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Mishra, Circle Officer, Sahibabad said that police have registered a case against all the eight person. “Based on the complaint filed by victim's family, an FIR under section 302 (punishment for murder) has been registered against all the eight accused persons. We have taken their details from the entry register of rehab Center and have formed teams to nab them. As of now we are not clear as how they have committed the crime but further investigat­ions are underway,” said Mishra.
