Traffic diversion for ‘Run for Unity’

NEW DELHI: On the occasion of birth anniversar­y of Sardar Vallabhbha­i Patel, ‘Run for Unity is being organized at National Stadium in Delhi on October 31.

Approximat­ely 15,000 participan­ts are expected to take part in the event who will arrive in buses and cars. The programme is likely to cause traffic congestion at C-hexagon and nearby areas and this may also lead to the closure of C-hexagon from early morning 6:30 am to 8:30 am. Since flag off at the main gate of National Stadium would take place and the route the run would take would be C-hexagon-c Hexagon Rajpath

Crossing-turn right and reach Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate.

The Delhi Traffic police has suggested alternate routes for the general public; Ring Road - Sarai Kale Khan - I.P. Flyover – Rajghat. From Lala Lajpat Rai Marg - Mathura Road – W-point- A-point. From Aurobindo Marg - Kamal Ataturk Marg - Kautilya Marg -Sardar Patel Marg - Mother Teresa Crescent - R/A RML. From Aurobindo Margaurobi­ndo Chowk – Prithviraj Chowk- R/A MLNP – Janpath or Rafi Marg - Connaught Placenew Delhi Rly. Station (Chelmsford Road- Minto Road).

From South to Central Secretaria­t. and Connaught Place people are advised to take

Mother Teresa Crescent - Park Street – R/A RML - Pandit Pant Marg for Central Secretaria­t and Park Street – Baba Kharak Singh Marg/mandir Marg for Connaught Place. Also from Mathura Road - W Point Sikandra Road-r/a ( Round About) Mandi House- Barakhamba Road- Connaught Place (for Connaught Place).

“Motorists are advised to avoid C-hexagon, India Gate and surroundin­g Roads and follow the route advisory for un-interrupti­ve movements. Motorists are also advised to follow the direction of the traffic police personnel deployed for traffic arrangemen­t to avoid any type of inconvenie­nce,” said a senior police officer.
