Nigerian national held for supplying drugs; cocaine worth Rs 1.5 cr seized
NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have arrested 33-year-old African national from Dwarka Mor area. The foreign national was staying illegally in the country and was involved in drug trafficking.
Police identified the accused as Orji Eugene Jideofor, a native of Nigeria.
When apprehended, 150 grams of white substance was recovered from his possession. The seized drug worth about Rs 1.5 crore in the international market.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that the drug was meant to be consumed in pubs, rave parties, concerts, educational institutions where addicts snort the powder through the nose, rub it into their gums otherwise dissolve it in water and inject it into the bloodstream.
"The Anti-narcotics Squad of Dwarka district had received information that a few of these foreigners are engaged in supplying narcotics drugs in the garb of other business," said DCP Dwarka. While probing, they arrested the accused from Dwarka Mor.
"On testing with Field Testing Kit, this white powder was found to be Cocaine which weighed 150 grams," said DCP Dwarka. Police said that Orji Eugene Jideofor came to India from Nigeria on a three months Visa in January 2015. After expiry of Visa, he continued to live illegally in the country. Accused was produced in Dwarka court on November 3 and has been remanded to two days police custody for further investigation.
