“When I look at the diverse Indian culture, I often wonder what the country can offer, and it's hard to believe that you can add more to that,” expresses Ambassador of Denmark Freddy Svane, adding, “I strongly believe that culture is a language we all can understand and thus it can be used beautifully to bridge the gaps.”

The Ambassador was speaking at the launch of an exquisite jewellery collection by Denmark's jewellery brand Skagen. The event was hosted at the Ambassador's residence in New Delhi, on November 13, 2019.

The collection highlights essential elements of Denmark's culture - the Northern star, seaside villages of Skagen and the sea salts among others.

“India is colourful and incredible. It has an ornamented style and concept. Denmark is much simpler, but we also have a human touch and this is what connects India and Denmark. In this line of thought, we wanted to introduce jewellery designs for the working Indian women - which are timeless and based on simplicity, functionality, and design. Skagen jewellery under the management and leadership of Fossil group has tried to make this happen, and I hope you (Indians) will find this jewellery line appealing and attractive,” the Ambassador

further mentioned.

The launch marks the brand's 30th anniversary on international front and 10th in India.

Taking inspiration from elemental delights brought around with the onset of seasons and nature, the color palette of each collection is unique to their time of the year. Ranging from delicate rings, earrings, necklaces to bracelets, the allnew jewellery collections represent eternal

beauty.

Talking about the debut of Skagen's Jewellery line in India, Anita Vogel, Brand Director, Skagen Denmark – Asia Pacific said, “Today, Skagen Denmark is creating watches and jewellery with the design principle of Hygge and minimalist approach. “Hygge” is a concept that is only known to Danes – it is representative of how you feel in a moment you want to last forever. We are happy to bring our jewellery to India, which is based on simplicity – capturing only what's truly essential in an uncomplicated, great-looking way.”

For 30 years, the brand has embodied the same creative energy that Denmark is known for – Modern, fashionable, and in the moment. To mark this milestone, Skagen had curated an exclusive experience hosted by the Ambassador of Denmark to India, Freddy Svane.

Speaking about the association with the Danish Embassy, Johnson Verghese, Managing Director, Fossil Group, India said, “Our Danish Design inspired watches have witnessed great success in India over the last 10 years and to celebrate this success and milestone we are extremely excited to launch our collection of Skagen jewellery in India. Our understanding of the modern Indian consumer has inspired us to bring in the globally accepted ethos of Modern, Functional and Simple design through our Jewellery.”

As Skagen dug deep into its roots drawing inspiration from all elements Danish, the guests witnessed origami artists create the Danish star welcoming the beginning of the holiday season. Followed by a dessert station for customizing native desserts into a personalised pudding, the fine spread of Denmark's signature dishes with a continental twist added to the experience.
