Delhi police busts gang involved in pickpocketing women visiting banks
NEW DELHI: An interstate gang of women thieves from Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh has been busted by Delhi Police which used to pickpocket the money of the person who came to banks to withdraw or deposit money in Delhi's Rajouri Garden.
The two women have been identified as Nargis and Anjali. Women thieves gang used to chase innocent women customers visiting banks by engaging them in a discussion on one pretext or the other and then pickpocket the hard-earned money.
Police said that the gang got busted only after the use of the latest scientific tools like Google Mapping, CCTV Synchronisation, Facial Recognition Method and Use Of GPS Data of Auto Rickshaw along with an extensive door to door verification and laying of traps.
In the instance case, the complainant lady who is preparing for GMET withdraw Rs 5 lakh from Canara Bank at Shopping Complex Tagore Garden. However, when she came out from the bank, she was followed by two properly dressed ladies. The complainant went to a stationery shop from where she was getting some photocopies done to be submitted to the respective authorities. Both the women accused engaged her in the discussion by covering her from both sides. However, while the complainant was busy in the discussion with one of the accused, the other one took out Rs 5 lakh by opening the zip of the bag.
“The CCTV Synchronise exercise conducted bond to bond manner increasing the area as per Google Mapping. The exercise conducted in 3 km radius resulted into vital leads viz. the route adopted by the accused to the place of the occurrence via Raja Garden-tagore Garden Metro Station-tagore Garden Shopping Complex,” said a senior police officer.
According to police once the target is achieved, the gang immediately pass on the valuables to other gang member who decamp with the same to the areas of MP from where the geographical and community-centric conditions make the task so arduous for the visiting raiding team.
