Baghel announces relief measures to contain virus spread
RAIPUR: With the war footing efforts of the Chhattisgarh government to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the state, the government has assured that the general public won't face any difficulty in the fight against Covid-19.
On the special initiative by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, many welfare schemes and decisions have been implemented to provide relief to the general public of the state, including the poor, schoolchildren, general public and business class during the period of lockdown till March 31.
In a major decision, the Chhattisgarh government has announced the distribution of rice in the month of April and May to the ration cardholders of the public distribution system. Instructions have also been issued by the government to the food department to allow distribution of salt and sugar in the month of April.
The state government has also decided to give mid-day meals to schoolchildren during the holiday period. Under this scheme, schoolchildren will be provided uncooked dal and rice for 40 days. Each and every student of primary school will be given 4 kg rice and 800-gram dal, while 6 kg rice and 1,200-gram dal will be distributed to each student of higher secondary school.
Instructions have also been given for distribution of takehome ration to the children registered with all Anganwadi and mini Anganwadi centres that have been closed till March 31.
The time limit for renewal of licence, permit, etc has been increased by one month in all the urban bodies of the state. Instructions have been provided to keep the cases in the Revenue Courts on April 1 or beyond that.
The Commercial Tax (Registration) Department has revised the rates of Chhattisgarh market price which comes into effect from April 1 by one month now to May. The last date for depositing property tax in urban bodies of the state has been extended from March 31 to April 30.
The Chhattisgarh government has licensed two distilleries for industrial manufacture of alcohol-based hand sanitizer as a measure to prevent Covid19. It has also been decided to give special allowance to the staff of health department engaged in the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
