LOCKDOWN: PCR UNIT SHIFTS 40 PREGNANT WOMEN TO HOSPITALS

NEW DELHI: Amid COVID19 lockdown, as many as 40 pregnant women were shifted to various hospitals by the PCR unit of Delhi Police. Police said that several cases were reported late night and women were rushed to hospital.

According to the data accessed by the Millennium Post, 15 cases were reported from South Delhi, where women in labour pain were rushed to hospitals whereas from Outer Delhi 11 cases were reported. It was around 12.47 p.m. on Tuesday when PCR got a distress call regarding immediate medical attention to a labour pain case near Khanpur bus stand Depot in Deoli school road.

“Our staff met the husband of the lady who told that his wife is in severe labour pain. The staff took the lady into the PCR along with her husband and shifted her to Safdarjung Hospital under the supervisio­n of doctors,” an official said.

The data further revealed that from South East Delhi10, North Delhi-1, South West Delhi-1, West Delhi-2, women were rushed to hospitals.

“About 21 women were shifted to Safdarjung Hospital, seven were shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, three were taken to Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital and rest were taken to nine other hospitals,” the data shows.

Deputy Commission­er of Police (PCR) Sharat Sinha told this newspaper that they got distress calls late night and PCR team, without wasting any time, reached the spots and took women to hospitals. “At the time of crisis, we are making sure that PCR reaches out to people in distress,” Sinha said. More than 600 PCR are on roads to help citizens and curb crime. “We have also trained our staff to handle such kind of medical emergencie­s,” DCP PCR said.

Meanwhile, the food delivery network establishe­d in all 15 districts apart from Metro and IGI with the involvemen­t of nearly 400 NGOS, RWAS, good samaritans facilitate­d by Delhi Police has led to the provision of meals and food packets at more than 250 locations which enabled feeding of nearly 1,85,033 people. “Further, 6,123 dry kits ration, 50 sanitizers, 625 kg of vegetables, 100 kg atta were also distribute­d,” police said in their statement.

According to Delhi Police, a new partnershi­p has been formed with major entities to ensure a regular supply of dry ration kits containing essential items of a reasonable quantum for target groups.

“Today Delhi Police in associatio­n with Zomato food India distribute­d 450 ration kits in Jahangir Puri area,” police said.

Wednesday was undertaken by the team of Delhi Armed Police in various areas, localities of Delhi. The Delhi Police arranged 1,422 food packets for distributi­on in various localities of Delhi.

In South Delhi, a senior citizen (wife of Lt. Col.) suddenly fell ill with the complaint of bleeding. Deputy Commission­er of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said that due to

lock-down, finding no other way, he visited Greater Kailash police station for help.

“Without any delay, Head Constable Lekh raj was directed to escort and she was shifted to R R hospital, where she is under treatment and recovering. Timely help is appreciate­d by the residents,” he said.
