10 more test +ve in GB Nagar, total 48

G B NAGAR: Ten new positive cases of Covid-19 have been reported from Gautam Buddh Nagar in past 24 hours taking the total number to 48.

Health officials said that none of the new cases was related to Ceasefire company in Sector 135 of Noida, which was sealed by the administration on Tuesday after over two dozen employees and their family members were found infected.

As per health officials, the infected people include five females and two males. “Two women aged 45 years and 20 years from Sector 10 of Noida whose family member tested positive earlier have also been found infected with Coronavirus,” said a senior officer from the district health department.

“The other patients include an 80-year-old woman from Gaur City area, a mother and son duo from Sector 37, where a family member had recently returned from Switzerland, an 81-year-old male from Sector 28 with no travel history and a 30-year-old woman from Patwari village in Greater Noida, who got infected after being into contact with the family in Nirala Greenshire where six members were tested positive earlier. Rest of the cases were detected on random testing,” he added.

Meanwhile, the increasing cases have created a crisis with Sharda University Hospital extending the arrangements for quarantine facility. “Private hospitals will be roped in where quarantine facility will be extended. On Wednesday, a 100-bed quarantine facility has been introduced at Kailash hospital in Noida. More private hospitals will have such arrangements if required,” said Suhas LY, DM, Gautam Buddh Nagar.

The DM further said that three hotels have also been taken over by the administration for keeping all private hospital staff and doctors who will be treating patients in isolation wards. “Three hotels in Greater Noidaradisson blu, Savoy Suits and Stellar Gymkhana in Greater Noida have been taken over by the administration,” the DM added. The administration also had meeting with IMA and the organisation is collecting data from all the hospitals that will provide beds, isolations ward, doctors, ICU units with ventilators and other facilities. Private doctors might also get roped in for voluntary service, a senior medical officer informed.
