Indian Railways runs Parcel Trains services to transport essential commodities
NEW DELHI: During the COVID19 lockdown, the Indian Railways is running its unhindered services of Parcel Trains for nationwide transportation of essential commodities and other goods required to meet the needs of citizens.
According to a Press statement, Indian Railways is already transporting essential commodities to different parts of the country through freight trains. "While these freight operations of Railways are meeting the needs of bulk transportation of essential goods like food grains, edible oil, salt, sugar, coal, cement, milk, vegetables & fruits etc, parcel trains are transporting various items that need to be delivered in comparatively smaller quantities," reads the statement.
So far, the Indian Railways has loaded 30 Special Parcel Trains to various destinations all over the country which includes Palanpur (Gujarat) to Palwal (Delhi Region), Jalgaon to New Guwahati, New Tinsukia to Godhani (Nagpur), Karambeli (Gujarat) to
New Guwahati, Dahanu Road (Palghar) to Bari Brahman (Jammu), Kankaria (Ahmedabad) to Bhimsen (Kanpur), Palanpur (Gujarat) to Palwal (Delhi Region), New Guwahati to Karambeli (Gujarat), Palanpur (Gujarat) to Palwal (Delhi Region).
Renigunta to Nizamuddin, Palanpur (Gujarat) to Palwal (Delhi Region), Palanpur(gujarat) to Palwal (Delhi Region), Salem to Bathinda, Moga to Changsari (Guwahati), Kankaria (Ahmedabad) to Sankrail(howrah), Dahanu Road (Palghar) to BariBrahman (Jammu) Bhopal to Gwalior, Godhani (Nagpur)to New Tinsukia, Nangal Dam to Changsari (Guwahati), Chennai to New Delhi, Yeswanthpur to Howrah, Bandra Terminus to Ludhiana, Rewa to Anuppur, Bhopal to Khandwa, Itarsi to Bina, Chennai Egmore to Nagercoil, Salem to Hisar, New Delhi to Howrah, Karambeli (Gujarat) to Changsari (Guwahati) and Palanpur (Gujarat) to Palwar (Delhi Region). Essential commodities like Milk, medicines are transported from one state to another.
