2 test positive in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: There were two new cases of COVID-19 in Gurugram on Saturday. The patients, a father and son duo however are not residents of the city but belong from Agra.

They have been admitted to a private super-specialty hospital.

On Saturday, 65 samples were taken for testing in which 35 tests were conducted in the government laboratori­es and 30 in the private facilities. A total of 720 samples have been collected till date and 6,580 persons have been screened up till now.

In order to deal with

COVID-19, the Gurugram authoritie­s have already given approval to start three more private laboratori­es. The ESIC hospital in Sector-9a has also been converted into dedicated COVID-19 facility.

While cases in Gurugram remained stable, neighbouri­ng areas of Faridabad and Palwal also had bad news in store.

In a single day there were eight new cases that were reported from Faridabad and 13 from Palwal.

According to health officials, five cases in Faridabad and all 13 in Faridabad are linked to Tablighi Jamaat. Gurugram’s neighbouri­ng Nuh reported its fourth case in which a truck driver who had recently travelled to Gujarat was found to be infected with COVID-19.

The total number of samples that have been sent for testing in Haryana is 1,430 in which 963 have been found negative and 70 cases are positive. There are 15 patients that have been discharged till date. Results of 397 samples are being awaited. There are over 460 patients who have been admitted to hospitals. Around 16,513 persons are under surveillan­ce. There are over 430 persons who have been identified in the state to be in contact with COVID-19 patients.
