COPS CONTINUE TO WIN HEARTS

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police continues to win the heart of people through their humanitari­an gestures. In the last 24 hours, the police has shifted 17 pregnant women to hospitals and distribute­d food to needy people. The law enforcemen­t agency also urged cooperatio­n from religious leaders and Resident Welfare Associatio­n (RWA) in maintainin­g the lockdown.

Police said that from West-4 women, Outer North3, Dwarka-2, East-2 women, Outer-2 women and one each from North East, North West and South were taken to the hospital. DCP (PCR) Sharat Sinha said they received at odd hours as well as from remote areas. “Out of these, five calls were received at odd hours between 11:00 pm to 5:00 am and some places were as far as 15 km from nearest multi-speciality hospitals,” DCP Sinha said.

Meanwhile, 3,531 people were detained on Saturday for lockdown violation in various parts. Data also revealed that 388 vehicles were impounded and 176 cases were registered under Section 188 of IPC. About 782 movement passes were issued.

“As many as 517 addresses were verified who were put on home quarantine, physical verificati­on was conducted by police and found that total 11 people were not found at their home due to which 9 cases were registered under Sec 188 IPC on Sunday and previously two cases were registered in Shahdara district,” said DCP (Shahdara) Dinesh Kumar Gupta.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police with the help of other stakeholde­rs is reaching out to more than two lakh needy people with essential commoditie­s. Team of Barakhambh­a police station distribute­d food to the poor people at KG Marg, Shankar market, Shivaji bridge railway station, Janpath Kidwai Bhawan.

In Burari, SHO himself met families and requested them to support them in lockdown. Ahead of the Shab-e-barat on April 8 and 9, the Delhi Police urged the people not to come out of their houses in view of the nationwide lockdown.
