12 more BSF jawans test positive in Tripura

AGARTALA: After two BSF jawans was tested Coronaviru­s positive on Saturday, 12 more personnel of the same battalion based at Ambassa's Jawaha Nagar area were tested positive on Sunday, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb tweeted on Sunday evening.

With Sunday's tally, the number of Covid-19 positive cases rise to 14 and out of which 2 patients have already released from the hospital.

The worrying developmen­t came 24 hours after detection of two Covid-19 positive cases who stayed at the 138th Bn BSF campus.

In the tweet, the Chief Minister appealed the people, "Don't panic, follow the government's guideline. We are working vigilantly for your safety".

The Chief Minister said the government has already arranged proper medical facilities at the unit in Ambassa. Team of specialist doctors is taking proper care of the patients. When contacted, District Magistrate (DM), Dhalai Dr. Brahmneet Kaur tonight said all the jawans who were found Covid-19 positive were kept in BSF campus with tight security cover. All the Covid patients will be taken to GBP Hospital tomorrow for better treatment' she said.

The district administra­tion has geared up to contain possible outbreak of the deadly disease. Swabs of 20 doctors, nurses and paramedics who came in contacted with two Covid-19 patients at Kulai district hospital were collected for test and reports are expected to deliver tomorrow.
