GURUGRAM: In less than two days, there has been another case of online hacking that has been registered at Gurugram Cyber Crime Police station.

In the recent case, the hackers have again stolen vital data of a company and demanded 10 bitcoins (Rs 66 lakhs) for getting back the information from them.

The company, which is a marketing firm has its office in Sector-38. According to the complainant, the hackers stole the data by trespassing into vital official emails of its executives and thereby changing passwords.

The management of the company first realised that the information was lost on April 25.

From May 2, however, it began receiving calls from an anonymous number demanding the ransom money of 10 bitcoins.

According to officials, the online hackers seem to be professionals in the field. “We have registered the case under appropriate Sections and have begun our investigations.

With the methodology used, it seems they are experts in the field of hacking. We are trying to trace vital leads to catch the criminals,” said a senior official from Gurugram Cyber Crime police station.

The case follows just after days of an MNC executive lodging a formal complaint of his official and personal information being stolen by the hackers.

In the last three years, there have been several cybercrime cases.

During the period of lockdown, while the numbers of regular crimes have shown a downward trend, cybercrimes, especially online financial frauds continue to increase.
