93 new COVID-19 cases in paramilita­ry forces

NEW DELHI: About 93 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported from paramilita­ry forces on Sunday, taking the tally to more than 740.

As many as 56 new cases were reported from the Indotibeta­n Border Police (ITBP) on Sunday. According to an official, since Corona outbreak 156 personnel have been tested positive. They were deployed in law and order and other essential duties in Delhi. "Currently, 127 personnel from ITBP and other paramilita­ry forces, 1 from NSG, 1 civilian and three family members of ITBP personnel are getting treatment in CAPF referral hospital in Greater Noida and they are stable,” the official said.

The data further shows that 18 new cases were reported from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in the last 24 hours. "17 cases were reported from Mumbai Airport and one in Kolkata,” an official said. So far 64 CISF personnel infected with the virus, 33 are in Mumbai, 22 in Delhi, five in Kolkata and two each in Greater Noida and Ahmedabad.

“Out of 33 infected CISF personnel in Mumbai, 29 were deputed at the Mumbai airport, two at Mumbai port and one each at the government mint and Hindustan Petroleum/bharat Petroleum Corporatio­n Limited (BPCL),” the data shows. Among those infected in Delhi, three were deputed at the Delhi airport and 19 at Delhi Metro Rail Corporatio­n (DMRC). Earlier, an Assistant Sub Inspector-rank official, posted at the Indian Museum security unit in Kolkata and a CISF head constable in Mumbai died due to the novel Coronaviru­s.

In Border Security Force (BSF), 18 fresh cases were reported including 16 from Tripura and two from Delhi taking the tally to more than 270 cases in the force. Over 120 jawans of the BSF are recovering from Coronaviru­s in Tripura. More than 140 cases were reported in Delhi. Two of its personnel died due to Coronaviru­s disease and two have also recovered.

Meanwhile, one new case was reported from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). “The case was reported from 238 battalion of CRPF. The personnel was deployed within Delhi,” an official said. According to CRPF, since COVID19 outbreak, 236 cases were reported in the force.
